Tom Weaver brings to his ADR practice three decades of experience as a court settlement conference officer, and service as a court-appointed arbitrator. For the last 20 years of his 35 years as a trial lawyer, he handled medical malpractice cases exclusively. In 2010 he made the transition to full-time mediator and arbitrator, after receiving training at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. Having reviewed thousands of cases in all areas of tort law, he is able to quickly grasp the key elements and subtleties of complex facts. His litigation experience is of substantial benefit in appreciating all of the factors that come into play when a case goes to trial or arbitration.

Additionally, his insight in understanding how both sides are viewing the case is of particular value in helping to achieve a satisfactory resolution. His arbitration practice encompasses both Kaiser and other contractual medical malpractice cases, as well as uninsured motorist arbitrations – and he believes that in writing his decisions, the parties have worked hard and deserve a through explanation of his reasoning process and conclusions. An attorney client said, "With his medical and legal knowledge, he knows how to test the positions of the attorneys." Another attorney said, "Tom has a way of making people comfortable, calm and cooperative."
